The Timeline of a Reclaimed Piece

As people become more aware of the importance of protecting the world’s resources, we have seen a huge rise in our customers shopping with an eco-friendly attitude. It’s no surprise that reclaimed furniture has soared in popularity over the past decade!

Reclaimed furniture gives used wood a new life, with the aim of reducing things like deforestation and our carbon footprint. Plus, the end result is a much more characterful piece with its own story to tell.

Earlier this year, Ivor, our Managing Director, visited one of the factories where some of our most popular reclaimed ranges are made. He saw the whole process first hand and we thought you might be interested in it too…

These photos from Ivor's visit show the timeline of a reclaimed piece of furniture and the love and care that goes into it at every stage.

1.  Previous life

The wood used to build the reclaimed pieces was once something like a fishing boat or a fortress door.

2.      Preparation

The raw materials are collected and prepared for the next stage so they are ready to be made into something new

3.       Sorting

The wood is sorted by size and then cut to the required lengths depending on what it’s being made into

4.       Building

5.       Finishing touches

7.    Your home

As soon as your reclaimed pieces arrive in your home, they’ll fill your space with rustic charm and instantly make it feel welcoming and homely. We love how each reclaimed piece is totally unique and each with their own story to tell, they are able to bring character and warmth to your space in a way other materials simply can’t.
