As Summer quickly fades it's time to embrace Autumn home style. For most people, Autumn means lots of cosy evenings in, so making your space feel warm and inviting is essential. Play around with rich colours, rustic wood and lots of soft furnishings to create your own Autumnal setting.

  1. Colour

Instead of the classic rust and orange colours associated with Autumn home style, why not mix it up with berry shades instead? The timeless chesterfield inspired design of the Alexander & James Abraham Junior is given an unusual twist by the deep purple velvet. Dark colours like this Alexander and James sofa are a daring choice but the end result is unlike anything else.

Perhaps opt for something more understated, like a neutral grey like this Tetrad Harris Tweed Braemar. The fabric of this Tetrad sofa is cosy for winter yet breathable when it starts to warm up again. A great way to spruce it up for Autumn is adding orange or brown throws and cushions to finish off the look.

2. Rustic Wood

We're always talking about how the rustic warmth of wood can transform a room but the effects are even more apparent as we go into Autumn and Winter. Pieces like the Jasper Storage Cabinet and Sideboard have a contemporary look whilst still giving off an irresistible warmth. To achieve a truly homely look with lots of character, try mixing and matching pieces from different furniture ranges.

3. Layer Up

Of course it isn't always necessary to invest in large piece of furniture to refresh your home. Simply updating your soft furnishings can update your living space in an instant. We love rugs with rich warm tones like the Mastercraft Ziegler Red/Beige Rug and the Woodstock Maverick Rug.

Or mix and match plain and patterned scatter cushions for a look that expresses your personality.

4. Lighting

Set the mood for a night in with the perfect indoor lighting. To create a relaxed atmosphere, turn off the ceiling light and turn on table and floor lamps. Use the warm pools of light to draw attention to your favourite parts of the room, whether that's the sofa or a decorative display on a sideboard.

Our current favourites are the Tom Schneider Swoop Floor Light and the Libra Saline Spherical Mango Wood Lamp.

5. Candle Lit Glow

Whilst it's not quite cold enough to light the fire, decorate your fireplace with gorgeous lanterns and candles instead. We love this pair of Silver Lanterns and this birdcage style T-Light Holder. Like lamps, candles can be used to keep the eye moving around the room so your space feels bigger.

We love how welcoming our Marmalade of London scented candles can make your home feel or if you can't light candles in your home, try a diffuser instead.
